The study investigated the proximate compositions of Cyperus esculentus and Phoenix dactylifera L. The proximate composition was determined using the method described by the Association of Official Analytical Chemists. Results of the analysis showed that Cyperus esculentus has a moisture content of 3.25±0.21%, crude protein - 10.19±0.42%, fibre - 9.80±0.19%, ash - 3.25 ±0.18%, lipid - 22.50±0.09% and carbohydrate - 51.01±0.3%. Phoenix dactylifera L. has a moisture content of 4.26±0.22%, crude protein - 3.91±0.09%, fibre - 3.23±0.24%, ash - 7.78±0.20%, lipid - 2.32±0.07% and carbohydrate - 78.50±0.41%. Phoenix dactylifera L. has higher carbohydrate and ash contents than Cyperus esculentus which has higher protein, lipid and fibre contents. Cyperus esculentus also has more calories (429.27 Kcal/100g) than Phoenix dactylifera L. (359.36 Kcal/100g) which means that it gives more energy than Phoenix dactylifera L. when consumed. However, these two products have good nutritional values and can be eaten to nourish the body. A blended of the two products can be taken in the form of juice for better nutrition and nourishment.
