ABSTRACT The stand-alone solar photovoltaic (PV) system is one of the most convenient and sustainable ways of generating electricity for rural areas where there is no utility grid. The size of the solar PV systems depends on the area of applications and estimated load of the targeted facility. In this research, step by step solar PV components were analyzed based on the estimated load. The size of solar PV system was designed based on the power consumption of a given facility in watt hour (Wh). Therefore, the detailed guidelines and technical considerations for design analysis of a solar PV system were presented for stand-alone application. The procedure of selecting an appropriate location along with the method for the assessment of solar energy resource at the chosen site was also provided. The technical considerations for estimating the daily energy consumption and sizing of solar PV components which include solar PV panels, charge controller, storage batteries, inverter and connec
